Schwanger Bros Ice Park Page #1
Schwanger Bros is very happy to be the main sponsor for this winter’s events at Clipper Stadium. The Schwanger Bros Ice Park is wonderful place for family and friends to spend some time skating in what is surely the most unqiue venue in Pennsylvania. If you can’t make it to Manhattan and skate in Rockefeller Center, you can visit the Ice Park here in Lancaster and enjoy a session skating under the lights at Clipper Stadium.

The Park is supposed tomorrow but problems with the chiller have the left the rink an interesting collection of pink tubes and wet sand. Warm temperatures and high winds haven’t helped.

These little pink tubes carry the super cooled liquid which freezes the ice and keeps it frozen.

The Schwanger banner on the left was supposed embedded in the ice but a problem developed that forced us to hang it behind home plate. Well, where home plate will be in a few months. Right now, it’s our Ice Park.

With a new chiller online and temperatures trending down we have a base layer of ice and we’re getting closer to opening. A revised opening night of December 7th is announced.

Opening Night!
After a big media day the day before, the people of Lancaster prepare to test the ice at the Schwanger Bros Ice Park.
Opening time is 5:00. Before opening some last minute preparations take place under a glorious sunset. We hope that bodes well for an evening of magic on the ice.

A reporter from WGAL tries out the ice just before the skaters get to.
The first skaters arrive and lace up their skates ready for the 5:00 p.m. start time.

Cylo comes outside to visit with the skaters and the spectators on opening night.
We’ll update this page further as the Schwanger Bros Ice Park season progresses. We hope you come down and visit. There’s no charge for watching and plenty of seats as well as the Barnstormer’s third base snack bar (yes, you can score some Barnstormer’s dogs while you’re there).
Check back soon and see if we caught you skating at the Park!
